Asparagus Piss Raindrop are a crypto conceptual science fiction anti climax band dedicated to pushing beyond all reasonable limits what live music performance can be. APR is formed from a dreadful, ever-expanding pool of performer/composer/improvisers from the Glasgow experimental music scene.
The group‘s work arises from the questions; How can we do things otherwise? What musical forms arise from and inform our daily experience? Performances typically draw on such things as recycled children’s games, group therapy, shapeshifting, declarations of ridiculous texts, geology, architectural intervention, gender theory, site specificity and slug reproduction. APR have been commissioned to produce work by Tectonics Glasgow, Tectonics Iceland, Transmission Gallery Glasgow and Association CRIC in France.

Ultimate Dancer and Crew - Holy Smoke (World Premiere)
A gang of hyper-present beings occupy a mystic underworld, seeking answers to life’s big existential questions. Wrapped up in a cosmic sonic blanket, these weirdos go pro in this trip into the unknown. The performance space becomes an alternative reality with dark energies, roaming spirits, occult rituals and loads of smoke.

The Art School & Stereo presents: Sites of Love & Cannibalism - Excess and Dependencies in City Music Spaces
a free two-day investigation into music, economy and space, involving performances, presentations and panel discussions with musicians, industry workers and DIY crews.
Q: What is excess? Can there be too much music? Too many people with nothing to do apart from sound out what could’ve of been?
Q: What's the difference between art and music, commercial and not commercial, DIY and entrepreneurialism? What's new music? Why are you not getting paid enough? What kinds of spaces do we want to gather in? What musics do we make, how and why do we make them?

Hi folks - very happy to invite you all to come over to my place on saturday night (nov 16th) to hang out and hear some exquisite sounds. I've been talking to Yoni about doing something for a while and it just happened to line up all nice and tidy for the time that Greg will also be in Glasgow. In fact its the last night of his UK tour so come help him get his head straight before he heads back to the USSA!
We gonna start relatively early (7:30 - 8:00ish) so certain people can make it back to Edinburgh without stress and others can go out and raise hell somewhere else.
Here's some info on everyone playing in case you're in the dark. There will probably be various combinations happening - we'll figure that out later....
Greg Kelley is an American trumpeter based in Boston. He is a member of Nmperign and Heathen Shame and does loads of other stuff including psychic surgery utilizing the trumpet bell as illness collection vehicle and transmitter (http://www.ordinaryfanfares.blogspot.co.uk/)
Yoni Silver is an Israeli bass clarinetist and composer based in London. I saw him play a mind blowing solo concert recently at Cafe Oto. It was very clear and complete. Really happy he's in the UK now! (https://soundcloud.com/yoni-silver)
Usurper is the Dolomite lovin' duo of Malcy Duff and Ali Robertson. They are meticulous manipulators of micro space and absurd sounds and have a combined lint collection bigger than Ron Lessard's noise cube (http://duffandrobertson.tumblr.com/)
With Lumps is one of the things that me and Neil Davidson have been kickin' around for the past few years. Our current act involves voguing with a head sack and ultra tender guitar torture among other things (http://withlumps.blogspot.co.uk/)
and finally you need the address:

Gnommero is a pamphlet, edited and assembled by Richard Taylor and Sarah Tripp. The contents of each volume are responses by artists and writers to one of Italo Calvino’s series of lectures, Six Memos for the Next Millennium, in which he describes literary qualities worth cherishing: lightness, quickness, visibility, exactitude, multiplicity and consistency. Gnommero: Visibility will be launched with an evening of readings, screenings and presentation the contributors are: Neil Davidson, Stuart Fallon, Kate Grenyer, Simone Hutchinson, Ben Knight, Chin Li, Giuseppe Mistretta, Eona McCallum, Anna McLauchlan, Anthony Schrag, Conal Mc Stravick, Charlotte Morgan, Laura Simpson, Richard Taylor, Iris Tenkink, Sarah Tripp, Tom Varley, Thom Walker, Daniella Watson and Rebecca Wilcox.
Gnommero is also an economic experiment in communal self-publishing. By dividing the costs of printing equally between the 20 contributors, we are able to guarantee that each volume of our pamphlet arrives when we need it to. We then divide the edition between us and distribute Gnommero in any way that feels right.
Gnommero is available from Aye Aye Books in the CCA and will be free at the launch. Gnommero was previously edited in collaboration with Eona McCallum.

Nicolas Field and Fritz Welch: We’re sitting in the middle of it and it’s the office of failure, I didn’t really decide. Actually when I’m doing it, I’m not entirely sure why. The knee is dry for lunch like a slice of life or otherwise he said and you keep your mayonnaise as long as possible. I’d gladly share lunch with the easter bunny although he seems very promiscuous. Then in the evening for supper, feelings on toast. We meet as often as possible for brains; bright white blue and purple shades of sprinkle. And We will go on eating because the weather is schön, so schön. In the morning, wake up with auto-destruction for 2 microphones and a drumset. Nicolas lives in Geneva and Fritz lives in Glasgow.

Three years ago Fritz Welch, Alex Drool and myself formed the band With Words Like Shackles, sending our collective ectoplasms on a cross-dimensional tour. The plasms are on their way back and we will unite with them for two shows at Ilan Volkov’s Tectonics festival. In Tel-Aviv we will play on the opening night of Tectonics, alongside Christoph Heemann, Jessika Kenney and Eyvind Kang, Robbie Avenaim, Yoni Silver, Robyn Schulkowski and many more!

Ana-Maria Avram Metalstorm (II) for computer assisted sounds, electric guitar, cello, percussion and piano (World Premiere)
Romanian-born Iancu Dumitrescu and his wife Ana-Maria Avram are leading figures in experimental and 'spectral' composition. Their prodigious output includes over 300 unique works and more than 20 joint CD releases on their own Edition Modern label.
For this special event they will give rare live performances of two World Premieres. They are joined by guitarist Stephen O'Malley. O'Malley is renowned as a founding member of many experimental and metal bands including Sun O))), Khanate and Burning Witch and he will give the world premiere of Dumitrescu's electric guitar concerto on Sunday night (12 May).
Tectonics Festival, City Halls Glasgow
Charles Ross The Ventriloquist (UK Premiere)
The second half brings works as visually intriguing as they are explorative. Charles Ross's piece blurs the line between musical notation and improvisation, pitting improvisers against BBC SSO performers who are running out of notes. The improvisers are led by a conductor who uses natural elements (stones, sand, rocks) to try and help them out.

Dialogues Festival is proud to present legendary saxophonist Evan Parker's new project for improvising ensemble. Thanks to a PRSF/Creative Scotland Beyond Borders award, Dialogues (Edinburgh) and Sonorites (Belfast) were able to commission Evan to develop a new piece for different constellations of improvising musicians. The result is "Self Organising Systems", a dynamic screed of structured-spontaneous music making.

GIO are delighted to be joined by Guido Henneböhl for these performances. A musician and concert organizer based in Berlin, Germany, Henneböhl has worked with composers like Alwynne Pritchard, Jeremy Woodruff and Carlos Sandoval, and improvisers Jochen Arbeit, Andre Vida and Brendan Dougherty. Henneböhl has a unique method of developing synthesizer instruments by circuit bending old keyboards and toys and combining them with self constructed primitive synthesizer elements. The instruments are notable for their wide range of tones and dynamics, and produce stochastic-like musical phrases.

FvRTvR’s music stumbles interstitially between concrete ambulance drippings and transparent arctic headaches. It’s a torn up piece of paper passing amnesia to its most unlikely listeners.aking a cue from Nat King Cole and Stubby Kaye this duo operates in a realm of marginal expectations and exuberant possibilities. FvRTvR is a dry heave and solid shove whistling dixie in Heartburn Alley. It’s made with the tofu & insect electronics of Guido Henneböhl combined with the anemic percussion and vocal gasp of Fritz Welch.
